Pages of a novel

Hello guys! Hope you all had a good christmas. On Christmas eve, I met up with my aunt for breakfast and she gave me two lollipops as a christmas present as well as a bag of fruit haha :) Then I spent the remainder of the time resting up until I had to meet up with Jennifer for dinner. I had hotpot with her family until around 10:30pm. I took the MRT back to my bus stop only to realise that the last bus of the day had passed one hour ago. Finally I plucked up the courage to take the taxi by myself. I would've felt fine taking it by myself if my mum hadn't updated me with the number of stories about girls getting kidnapped by taxi drivers in Taiwan.

I arrived near my hostel in one piece though (evidently) but got scammed -_- the machine clearly showed a fee of 85NT but the driver told me to give him 105NT. I didn't argue since I was pretty relieved he didn't take me to some weird place so I just gave him 110NT and sourly told him to keep the change. Well if it goes towards his family then that's okay but if it's for smoking then I hope the wheels of his taxi get punctured sometime in the future.

On Christmas day I went out with Jen, her sisters Shelly&Lily as well as their friends Rita and Chloe. We went to Zhongxiao fuxing and had lunch at a cafe called Afternoon Tea. It was very very filling. I was actually full after the 'entree' which consisted of yummy soup+bread.

Then my pasta and winter apple rose tea arrived. I wanted to try the tea because it sounded really interesting.
For pasta I ordered some chicken and meatballs dish. I didn't really like it that much though. I was pretty stupid haha, I mistook the chicken for eggs -_-.
At night we went to Shilin night market and there I got this massive fried pork fillet for about $2 AUD, it was like 25cm long and 15cm wide. Also had some dodgy food at this stall. Then Jen convinced me to try this dessert called 糖葫蘆 :) Basically it's like strawberries/ cherry tomatoes coated lightly with a kind of toffee. I didn't expect it to taste so nice but it was pretty good. The layer of toffee was really thin so it wasn't too sweet :3 Didn't take a picture though.

I spent the following day shopping with Jen and her sisters again, I ended up buying a cute Totoro plushie omg. I haven't bought a plushie in years yet I bought one yesterday because it was cute and only around $2.60 AUD. Also got some nice stationery & new shoes. Today I met up with Jen & Shelly again haha I've been seeing them for quite a few days now. We went to Ding Tai fung for lunch with a few of shelly's friends (Peter, Ralf, Rosy & Vicky). Then some of them went shopping at Zara for clothes before we headed to the famous Dazzling Cafe for afternoon tea. I swear I eat twice the amount of food I usually eat when I'm with Jen & her sisters hahahaha. But following them around is pretty fun, I get to discover many cool food places.
We had to all order drinks because it was the policy and we could only stay for 90 minutes because it was so popular but it was a very eye-opening experience. Oh and sorry mibi, you'll be seeing very yummy pictures of food below, don't worry I made sure to eat your share :D
The seven of us shared the two desserts.

For the past three days or so, the majority of my money has been spent on food. How unusual. Well I haven't had so much food for a while. I wasn't hungry for the past two weeks or so, which resulted in me being too lazy to walk out and buy food. Instead I survived a few meals on the big bag of fruits my aunty gave me haha. Anyways, I think I'll get back to reading Lord of the Rings now. Remaining indifferent to the recent turn of events is proving to be quite difficult. Goodnight little ones! :)

The lighting isn't that great so you can't see properly but since a few days ago my hair has become a more noticeable shade of red :) Besides that, I've been quite busy as well. I went shopping with Julie and saw her spend 4000NT on a pair of heels and dress ._. That's about $133 AUD which is quite expensive for Taiwan. Though I must admit they looked amazing on her. We also went Karaoke just the two of us for about three hours, it costed around $17 AUD for each of us but food was included (a all- you -can -eat- buffet). The food was average though, or maybe my standards have been raised too high.

On saturday I went to Taipei Main station for a bit to meet Jen & her sister :D I missed them so much even though they were only gone for a few days. I had to leave early though to meet up with a family friend for dinner. She took me to Morita Cafe, the decor kind of made the place look like a princess room.
I think they changed the menu around a little though so my friend wasn't very happy with the food.
This is the spaghetti and pork dish I ordered
 My friend's dish.
Then she insisted on buying me cake even though I was kind of full already. It was quite an interesting experience though, felt so high class haha. But again, the food was average, my friend was so unhappy with the quality because she said that they food used to taste way better. I liked how the food was presented though. Muahahah mibi.

I didn't take many pictures on sunday but I went shopping with coco at Wufenpu and we visited her mum's store. Her mum was so nice and insisted on giving me a free coat & scarf along with this green knit that I was going to buy because she claimed it was her first time meeting me. Then they shouted me hotpot :') I also got shouted lunch that exact same day by   my new friend Rice from the youth hostel. Anyway, I'll go back to reading the hobbit now, cya guys!

Hi guys! Long time no see :) Well more like long time no post. I've just been getting a bit lazy lately because I'm always tired by the time I get back to the youth hostel. Summarising the last few days feels so awkward LOL since its the past and all but anyway. I guess I can let the pictures do the talking or whatever. I'm not that interesting to listen to anyway since I just talk about random crap half the time. But basically on the 17th of December I met up with Coco successfully at the Taipei City hall MRT station and then we caught the MRT to Ximending :) We kind of had ice-cream first up :P I haven't had ice-cream at a store for a long long time (minus soft serves of course). It was pretty nice.
The ice-cream I ordered

We kind of just went shopping a bit and then bumped into these weird guys. They came up to us and the first thing they said was "Hey, I'm not a pervert okay?". Obviously I immediately assumed he was a pervert LOL. But jen did warn me about these kind of people, they try to sell you stuff and keep chasing after you etc. Luckily Coco was smart and pretended she couldn't understand chinese and so she was full on speaking english to them. To our horror the guy pulled over another one of his mates to 'speak english' to us. That kind of failed and after he introduced himself as "handsome" we were like wtf and kind of just slipped away.
We both felt like curry after shopping at Ximending so we went to Sogo to satisfy our cravings :3 Bought some Mister donuts after that and just sat there at the table talking. I ate so much that day.

The next day I kind of went out with Sunny. Her family picked me up from the youth hostel and they took me to Sogo again for lunch at Ding Tai Fung.
It was super yummy :3 and I finally got to eat all this food I've been craving for ages. They didn't let me pay though :\
Afterwards we went shopping for michelle's polaroid stuff before heading off to Ximending to shop around again. They left early though so I MRT'ed by myself back to Taipei City hall station and kind of just sat there like a loner for 1hour and a half before I was scheduled to meet up aunty for dinner in Taipei 101. To my amusement, she took me to the same restaurant Sunny took me to except this time it was in Taipei 101 :P I kinda felt so awks telling her though hahaha but it was still yummy.

Went and visited grandma, collected my glasses etc. and then I headed back to the hostel. I couldn't find anyone to hang with me the next day though so I kind of just slept till 1pm before waking up to eat fruit for brunch. I read a bit of the hobbit on my laptop then felt sleepy so I slept till 6pm ._. It was kind of a depressing day actually. I don't think I'm very good at handling my emotions when I'm alone overseas. I finally dragged myself out to the night market downstairs though and bought a 1 litre milk tea + chicken & mochi. I think I went a little overboard hahahaha.

Anyway, I should go sleep now. I feel a bit tired, kind of fell down the stairs today and hurt my back. Hopefully I don't need to go see the doctor though, or that will be very bothersome since my aunty will probably have to take me and she's very busy because of some stuff lately :o Oh well, i'm sure i'll be better by tomorrow cause i'm young 8D huaehaue. Goodnight!

Hi all, I just made a new friend and her name is Rice. Like literally LOL. She's officially my new room mate in the youth hostel hehe and she's taiwanese. She's super outgoing D: Jen I think you should be here because ;))))))) of reasons I will tell you next time.

Anyway, yesterday I met up with Chloe at Ximending and we went to get our hair done together at a place called Cutti Hair salon which I looked up the night before. I decided to be brave and to dye my hair for the first time. I also got like 5-7cm of my hair trimmed off :') My hair takes a billion years to grow so now you know how long it took to convince myself it'd be okay. I'm pretty okay with my  new hair I guess? It's still normal even though I just dyed it red and all. I don't even need to wait three days before washing my hair. Chloe got loose curls :3 She looks so cute now ^^ I wish I suited curly hair. Oh well.
You can't really see the red hair cel

We went to have a late lunch at Coco's Curry house :) It was pretty decent, my peach panacotta, japanese milky greentea & beef curry costed probably around $10.

Pretty pricey for Taiwan but quite alright for Australia I suppose. I bought a few more things in Ximending. I encountered yet another creepy guy this time ;_; he started with saying he wasn't a pervert again. I didn't think quickly enough to start using english though so chloe and I were kind of just trapped there talking to him.

At first I tried lying by saying we were from Kaohsiung but I think my crappy chinese kind of gave it away. In the end I bought two small pens for freaking $6.60 just so he would leave us alone. Next time if another person comes I'm probably just gonna yell like 死變態 (Pervert!!!!) at the top of my lungs and run away. Haha I wish I had the guts to do that. I'll opt for pretending that I don't understand chinese technique though.

Chloe and I went Shi ling night market later on, well we tried to but ended up shopping in the public market area. We also stopped for a bit of shredded ice dessert :3

Chloe's Mango shredded ice & My grape snow bubble thing.

There seems to be more of a christmassy atmosphere in Taiwan.

Anyways, Goodnights people! I'll be posting about the previous few days later on (I know, so out of order but whatever hahaha this post seemed shorter sooo yeah).

Hi guys :)
It's officially 1pm over here in Taiwan right now. The past few days have been pretty amazing :3 I took the plane by myself for the first time. Thanks Janice & her family who came to pick me up from the airport at 5:30am in the morning. Despite only getting two hours of sleep on the plane, we met up with Jen in the morning and went to chill at a cafe. Afterwards we went to 五分譜 to do a bit of shopping.

We had dinner at Janice's later on then went to the night market where I kind of just spent heaps of money :\ Janice and Jen claim that I wasn't being excessive though. Mibi I got you something "awesome" LOL. Also got flats for around $3 aw yeahhhh gotta love Taiwan shopping.

I've kinda been doing heaps of things the past few days: meeting up with my aunt, sorting out sim card and Taiwan version of go card and visiting my grandmother at her temple.
Photobucket

After I visited her, I met up with Jen again and my aunt, Jen and I went to Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department store(新光三越) to have lunch at this Jap buffet which turned out only to be $15 per person omg. They had sashimi and everything D: My aunt insisted on shouting us both though.

Just one of the few plates of food I loaded up 8)Photobucket
My dearest Aunt who has been helping me out these two days :)

Jen enjoying her starfruit, so adorable it makes me laugh every time I see this picture.

We walked around afterwards and looked at makeup. The packaging looks so cool but I don't think I'd even use it anyway if I bought it since I'm so lazy. I should spend my money carefully haha... I've spent like $100-$150 in the last few days. What is wrong with me.
Photobucket
For some reason I haven't really been hungry since arriving in Taiwan :\ I planned to eat all this yummy food but so far I'm still not hungry very often sooo yeah. My aunt insisted on buying my some bread and stuff from this bakery though. The bakery looked so amazinggg. Hahaha Mibi you jelly?

I met up with Jen yesterday again after I moved from Janice's house to the youth hostel. I've made two new friends already, it's actually not as bad as I thought. Just a bit lonely because they're always out and all. It's all good.I will also learn how to get around Taiwan without getting lost. I was chilling with Jen, her sisters & chloe yesterday and kind of got lost because I couldn't find where my bus stop was. Got it in the end though, hopefully I don't get lost when I go to 五分譜 today with Coco. But anyway, other than that, I must say that the christmas decorations near Taipei 101 are so pretty!

Photobucket
Anyways, I should get going, need to meet coco at 2pm at the MRT station near Taipei 101, hopefully I find it okay. Oh and hopefully I get home fine >< it'll be pretty late by the time I get back.

Hi guys :) This will probably be my last post until I get to Taiwan. It might even be the last post until I get back from Taiwan, you never know :P Hahaha, nah it depends if I have net. This time I resolve to make the most of my holidays and keep you guys updated. Every time I go overseas it seems as if I disappear off the radar completely. Mibi there will be many pictures of food coming your way muahahaha and Yee sum, I'm sorry I couldn't go shopping with you before I left, but I'll definitely go shopping with you after I get back on the 10th of January. Hope you guys have a safe and amazing holiday! Fingers crossed that applies for me too, as I'll be hiking around Taiwan like a backpacker not knowing where I'm going. Yes, I should go back to preparing now, I don't know what I'm else I need to pack into my suitcase but it's so empty every time I pack :s I think I've forgotten something major. Oh well.

Laters~! :D

Turns out I was able to live at Sunny's house, parents just made a big deal about this trip being for my independence so they told me to organise other accommodation instead. Oh well, even so, I'm going to enjoy my trip since I'm paying for half of it and all. Thank goodness I'll be leaving Brisbane in two days. Hehe I'll being see everyone soon :3

Okay so this is two days late but on sunday I went on a date with Natalie ;) On the way there, I got on the bus and saw that it had christmas decorations on it!

I met up with her and we went to watch Rise of the Guardians. At first I wasn't that enthusiastic about it because from the description it didn't sound to exciting but I'm glad I went to watch it. The graphics were pretty good and in my opinion the storyline was pretty decent too + it was in 3D. I haven't watched a movie in 3D for a while, always thought it was a bit of a waste of money but it proved me wrong. I think the quality has gotten better.

We went to the city and natalie got some sushi for dinner before we sat down and just talked. I bussed with her to sunny bank and then she walked home while I met up with my parents to go to dinner. Ended up having dinner at some new store located near the Runcorn Tavern. It was quite interesting, everything was grilled over Charcoal flames. We ordered more side dishes though.

The store name was written in simplified chinese so we assumed it was opened by a Chinese person. When a waitress came to give us our food though, Dad decided to be really random and called her back asking "you're taiwanese right?". In response to our questioning looks, my Dad said "What? I can tell by their looks they're Taiwanese". Don't get me wrong though, dad loves chinese people, he just decided to be weird. Ahemmmmm

Convinced my parents to take my brother and I to Meet Fresh. I swear it's become a bit of a tradition nowadays. We always go to Meet fresh after eating out. Muahahaha Mibi ;) you jelly of my grass jelly? SEE WHAT I DID THERE? hahaha jokes, I'm so lame :')

Argh, attempting to plan my Taiwan trip in accordance to my parents' wishes has left me feeling ridiculously frustrated. They literally change their minds every single day, coming up with new places for me to visit, more accommodation and transport I need to arrange. Then they tell me my current plans are faulty and I've now changed my living arrangements in Taipei for the third time. I'm now staying 4 days at a hostel in a room with 6 strangers from the 16th-19th of December. According to dad, many people will cancel their spots every day so I should be able to live there until the 1st of January. Great. Also, during that timespan I have to find someone to go visit Hualian with me and at least stay for one night. This is ridiculous because contrary to his belief, my friends have plans of their OWN. I can't just drag them out to go with me.

That not only increases the costs of my trip (which I have to pay half for by the way) but also disrupts the little progress which I have managed to make in my plans. They say they'll owe people lots of 人情 if I live at their houses of if we take up their offer of picking me up from the airport. Apparently I should be on my own and go explore. Greaaaaaaaaaat. At least I get to go Taiwan though, I just feel as if its a bit unfair because I'm paying for half the trip and all yet they're set on making me spend my own money their way, leaving barely any resources for me to pursue my own interests. I wish they would stop viewing this trip as a exploration of Taiwan and me as 20+ year old backpacker who wants to visit historical places and climb mountains. I will go take a shower, I think i'm just a bit annoyed/frustrated at the moment. I want to go watch Sword art online, but then dad will probably start saying that I'm not putting effort into planning my trip. T___________T

Sorry, I know I complain alot. Maybe I just need to get off my backside and be more independent. I kind of wish it's just my parents being unreasonable and not me just refusing to learn but you know, that's probably not the case. Someone teach me how to have a better temper. Sadly I don't seem to be the type of person to be very patient, open and optimistic. It's so hard to change. More effort more effort more effort. I'm tired.

I should go shower now, goodnight guys!

Today I slept until 12pm, are you proud of me guys? Haha I'm slowly starting to muster the art of sleeping late into the day. Anyway, I didn't do much today, just went with mum to the city to buy a backpack for when I go to Taiwan next week!!! Dad claims that I shouldn't just buy a random backpack from taiwan as I'll be travelling so he made us go buy one from Kathmandu, some place that apparently sells backpacks for mountain climbing etc. - -" He is also making me bring a goretex, which looks something like this:

I swear he thinks I'm supposed to travel like some 20 year old backpacker or something (:" He wants organise a plan to travel around taiwan and he's convinced I need a super pro backpack with like one of these coats which are supposed to be wind and waterproof LOL. Ahem, so other than that, I also introduced my mum to my favourite place to buy milktea: P.I.T :3 We sat outside for a while and then mum launched into all these stories of how people got raped in Taxis and how I shouldn't take taxis by myself in taiwan hahaha. After that we were walking around in Elizabeth Arcade and we saw this rack with clothes on sale. Ended up getting this dress which totally isn't my style, but ya know, decided to try something different. You proud of me elaine? I bought a dress fully made out of lacy :s Heauehe the shop lady decided to be nice and gave us the dress for $20 when it was supposed to be $40.

Yeah, I swear the more I sleep the heavier my eyebags LOL. That totally makes sense (Y)

We then visited my brother while he was working. Mum was so embarassing, she went up to the counter, whipped out her iPhone and started trying to take pictures of my brother in his maccas uniform whilst there were still customers behind her. I kind of just walked away and pretended I didn't know her  whilst my brother opted for turning the other way in response. Oh and uh for those who are car fans out there, we also saw this car parked casually on Elizabeth street:

Goodnight! x

P.s I'm going to taiwan in 5 days!!!!!!! I'm kind of excited but mainly feeling nervous atm :\ I hope Jeffrey/Georgina/Jonathan end up being able to come on the trip around Taiwan with me, or I'm pretty much screwed as then I'll have to pay for 100% of my trip to Taiwan. Also, I have no idea where to live now for the most part of my trip as I think Sunny might have to go to many places and I would probably end up becoming an inconvenience. Youth Hostel here I come~ Hopefully I'll get around Taipei alright and hopefully I have someone to hang out with most days :s

Wow that was a very long P.s. Cooooool. Taiwan soon!! It'll be my first time travelling without my parents/ any teachers.
