Okay I really really really don't want to disappoint you. Reading over those texts made me remember how much you believe in me. I will fight to the end!

Soooo today I wasn't planning on going QUT open day but then parents made me since it's only a ten minute walk away from my house :x I was planning on doing english and chem :\ Didn't actually do either, I only 'decided' on my poems and like rewrote my journal, thats it. This is really scaring me, I'm so chill about everything its scaring me quite a bit. I feel as though everything will be alright no matter what happens ._. Dude omg today when I went to the open day I realised I was too scared to ask the people for information. Last time I told Natsuki I was to scared to go post things at the post office by myself, she laughed, because she said I could speak english yet I was scared. T_T I'm so chicken, I don't even know why. In the end, my forced me to go ask, well she approached the lady first and started talking about how i'm shy etc = = so obviously I had to take over and save myself.

Went to the law section :3 Considering doing law despite the fact that I might find it hard to find jobs? :\ I don't know. I'm still thinking. To be really honest, I don't think I'll make it to med. I didn't want to be one of those who gave up on their own dreams quickly but.. :\ Now i'm just giving myself excuses for everything. Went home afterwards and then everything sucked really bad cause yeah. This is so really random but yesterday I burned myself o_o somehow on this hot plate thingyo.

At night I had golden daytime again :3 Yeah yeah yeah food is life. Oh... and just before I showered I tried on this BB cream I bought in Japan. It was originally going to be a birthday present for whoever I thought would want it, but I've never owned a BB cream so I got slightly curious + the packaging looked pretty. Well mainly jennifer  & I were talking about BB cream and foundation last time and she said it would be hard to apply concealer/foundation well etc and i was telling her how I had BB cream.

She told me to test if it matched my face colour o-o Well I can't really tell but yeah, here is a picture. Haha oh and I successfully put eyeliner on one eye ( well in my opinion successful) but mum just stared. Usually I poke myself or the colour doesn't evens how up when I get bored and do it at home. I scab from mums makeup (Y) So much effort though.. so I only did one eye.
o_o creepy difference in skin colour after I moved the camera. I look like a dead person on the left LOL

I shouldn't be wasting time, every time I climb back to the top something drops again. Yup being misleading aren't I? Well thats all of the ravings of a crazy person for today :s I'll go do Jap homework to make myself feel better :\ Need to hardcore pull my marks up. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY. I'm being serious here, somebody please please please slap me, not even kidding.

okay totally random but I saw this dress ^ today at Valleygirl except it was orange (this pic was during the holidays when I was on a date with jennifer ;) ). It was twenty dollars when I saw it today, compared to the $35 last time ._. But there were no more blue ones (': So sad. I think I mainly started to like it because Jen liked it :o hahaha yay i'm becoming like jennifer 8D she has influenced me a lot and inspired me :L:L:L (to be weird as well) hahaha jksjks. Jennifer is forever mine, TAKE THAT RIRI. I have so many couply shots with her -blushes- haha jks ;). Oh man, I wish the blue version was still there ): Wow I blog so randomly.

Would you guys prefer to read something else instead? like... Once upon a time there was a rainbow pegasus and then one day a hunter shot it with an arrow and it leaked rainbow blood all over the sky whilst it was flying and hence on rainy days there is a rainbow? wow lol that doesn't even make sense. I'm in such a weird mood today, feel like being weird :x Someone pleaseeee slap me! I'm not working hard at all :s

Yesterday was a normal school day except we had a fire drill for the first time this year :s We were having physics but then got interrupted. I find it amusing how in high school the teachers tell you to pack up your stuff and bring your bags when we're supposed to be 'saving ourselves from the fire' and in primary the teachers used to tell us to just leave everything and go :L Man our physics class is so awesome hahah yee sum & I have the most random conversations with venkat.

We were waiting on the oval for the teachers to let us go and then we saw Venkat's shoe. Everyone couldn't help but burst out laughing and then we all started taking photos of his shoe. But seriously though! So hilarious :L:L:L I was tickling his foot with a piece of grass since you know, his socks also had holes in them LOL

And then... he took my camera and started taking random photos :L:L:L
He told Yee sum, Johnson & I to put our hands together and then he took a photo and told us its really cool because its like multiculturalism and then we reminded him all of us were asians :L So he was like 'fine!' -puts hand in as well LOL!

Yay Golden Gaytime!!! Best icecream/ice block ever 8D

You know, finding that alice themed restaurant made me remember the dress I really really liked from Tim Burton's Alice in wonderland :) It was the red dress Alice wore at the red Queen's castle. Soooo amazing :') I wish I could make it.

Haha jen told me her dream is to go to cultural centre wearing the alice in wonderland costume she made and to have a picnic right outside the museum on the grass :L:L With a pretty suitcase bahahaha. I would if I had the red dress maybe ;) I'd probably still die of embarrassment though :x I get embarrassed very easily (scared of being judged ahem). But yeah omg. I want to go on a loooong as trip to Japan with Jennifer D:

Man this is so so so so so bad! Why am I blogging so much??!?!? ;_; Goodnight!

and this.... looks freaking amazing!!!! O_O

Alice of Magic World is an ‘Alice In Wonderland’-themed restaurant in Tokyo, Japan, full of things straight out of the Lewis Carroll classic and the Disney animated version of the novel. While dining, you can experience a world of wonder and fantasy.
The restaurant includes playing card dining tables, giant tea cup booths, a magic forest, and heart-shaped chandeliers.

I just raided my wardrobe and found a shirt thingyo I used to wear all the time in grade nine o_o I think my style of dressing has changed by a lot (mostly influenced by the people around me). Hahaha so I was curious and went to try on the shirt. T_T It still fits me, because I've only grown 1cm since grade seven. I remember when I was at the uniform shop buying HPE uniform, mum insisted on getting this gigantic shirt for me because she said I would be getting 'growth spurts' never happened. The shirt still looks like a short dress ;_;

2009:

Now????

Haha is there much of a difference (other than the gain of weight) ? I hate my round face so much I always take photos with my face on an angle nowadays :L Sadly I think I could still pass of as a grade nine if I wanted to. I don't know if dressing more mature or more like a kid is better. Well dressing like a kid is just like regaining my innocence and naivety back. I don't know. The way I dress gets influenced by people a lot o_o i don't really care about fashion in particular, I just find myself gradually liking things which I see some people wearing?? idno. Cool. hahaha Okay might as well throw in some more photos from grade nine ;) don't kill me guys. More is yet to come (near graduation).

 Bill's birthday outing??
 Athletics carnival O9!
 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA OMG HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wow haha it seems Jen still retains her love for jumping like this xD // MIFF O9

YAY ANDY WON MASTERCHEF!!!!!  :D

So happy for Julia as well & Audra :)

Thank you to all those who wished me luck and cheered me on for UMAT. Although I didn't do amazing, I came out of the test centre knowing I didn't give up during the whole three hours of testing. Whether I pass or fail, that's another question but thank you for believing in me :') It means a lot especially when no one in my family is used to giving encouragements (including myself). Hope you all had fun at athletics carnival today!! It seemed fun from the photo's on sunny's blog :O damn I missed out on group karaoke :') and all the fun stuff.

One piece of good news today: UMAT DOWN!!!!
Must. Keep. Fighting.

Okay I should go shower now, I've been procrastinating like a crazy lady. I'll try get SOME work done tonight :3 I want to talk to jenwen ;_; But goodnight guys! :)

It's so weird but recently.. I've found that I'm becoming more interested in girly stuff - aka shoes and makeup. Well I kind of want to learn how to use it, then maybe perhaps I can do it myself for formal and save money 8D Maybe.

These shoes looks so cool! Too bad they don't really suit me though :\ How come the things I take interest in never suit me <_< Bet these shoes are like $150+ haha #poor for life. Still thinking whether I should get formal shoes or not. Mum wants me to wear the ones I wore for semi but I don't think they'll be tall enough, as sad as that sounds :') Cause my dress will probably be really long kinda...maybe. Haha start saving. Sad how I have money in my bank account but I'm too chicken to go renew my savings card so I can access it LOL. Oh well, better I save that money for like uni or something then. Meanwhile I will keep collecting my $10 pay from mum every week 8D

Apparently ^ is really good o_o Hmmm can use it for formal makeup 8D maybe. If I one day decide to get it and trial it :\ Or maybe I can't be bothered hahaha so much effort. Mum laughs at me whenever I try on makeup because she says I look like I got punched in the eye. Also she insists on giving me fake eyebrows because I have none ;_; so sad. Ahem back to UMAT. Wow I'm actually becoming slightly interested in these things. Must be the effect of grade twelve. Can't wait till formal!!! Wish my dress would arrive :\

After a roller coaster of emotions for the past few days , I think I've regained my footing slightly now. Perhaps I can do this on my own.

Yep okay keep going. UMAT tomorrow.. wish me luck? Mainly I just feel bad because my parents paid so much for Medentry but yeah, otherwise I wouldn't be so worried about it. Wish I could go athletics carnival ): It's my last year, would've been so fun. Oh well, have fun elaine, sunny, jenwen, kaido, daniel, terry and richie (Y)

Perhaps I should list something good about my day every time I blog ? :D They say that you can choose to be happy anytime, it's always up to you sooo yeah. Okay. Uhm.

I did 13 titrations today.
I've started my math B assignment a bit.

Goodnight~!! Off to UMAT land now :L

SATIRE INSPIRING MORE THAN JUST A LAUGH
Through evoking laughter, the ability of satire to remedy human weaknesses and follies inspire us to wonder, is satire more than just trivial comedy? PENNY CHEN
Somewhere between a hilarious ridicule and a savage swordplay against human failings, lies the sharp needle of satire, a stinging antidote to the poisons of society. More often than enough, we as humans are happy to reside in our little bubble of oblivion, blind to the very ugliness of our human nature. In essence, it is satire, with all its witty quips and biting humour that seeks to mend the fragmented shards of a society.

A brilliant combination of both wit and intellectual farce, Oscar Wilde’s The importance of being Earnest can be described as a satirical masterpiece of the 19th century. However, beneath the exterior of a humourous Victorian melodrama lies more than just a comedic duel of euphemisms.

Exploring the social norms of Victorian England, the trivialization of sacred institutions such as marriage is a prominent theme in Wilde’s play. Composed earlier, is Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, which also scorns such a weakness in the society of Regency England. Marriage is ironically not a commitment of love, but rather a way for an individual to get what they want.
You might think them silly, but before scorning, think again my dear friend. For even in our society today, there is an astonishing 46% of new marriages which end in divorce. Who’s to say we are any better in terms of commitment?

Lady Mary Wortley Montagu once said, “Satire should, like a polished razor keen, wound with a touch that’s scarcely felt or seen”. Conforming to the conventions of the gentle Horation satire, Oscar Wilde’s The importance of being Earnest subtly criticizes through ridicule. Gender roles are reversed and it is the female characters who take charge of their own love lives while men
herded around like sheep, happy to contend with the wishes of their partner.

Pictured: Jack and Gwendolen; Algernon and Cecily

Superficiality at its best, Gwendolen Fairfax is a silly and shallow character whose engagement is all about her ideal to “love someone of the name Ernest”. Such a narrow-minded obsession is thoroughly exposed when she insists even that prior to her acquaintance with Jack she had been “far from indifferent” to him.
Supposedly head-over-heels in love with a man whom she believes to be called Ernest, one cannot help but chuckle at such absurdity. Simultaneously, we learn of Wilde’s disdain towards the superficiality of marriages in Victorian England.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice starts off with a curious statement, “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife”.  However, from delving into the historical setting of the novel, we must note that ironically, the reverse appears to be more applicable. Women of the 18th century it seemed, were expected to find themselves a partner to which marriage would prove financially beneficial.

For Charlotte Lucas, being the age of 27 and “without having ever been handsome”, marriage had “always been her object” as it was the “only provision for well-educated young women of small fortune”. Her marriage to the ridiculous Mr. Collins was based “solely from the pure and disinterested desire of an establishment” and to put it bluntly, a mercenary marriage.
Don’t get me wrong, it is not her character at fault but rather, Austen utilizes Charlotte’s dire situation to criticize the family reliance upon a female’s marriage for financial security. Contrary to the opening sentence of Austen’s novel, it is the poor Charlotte who must throw
herself at the buffoon, Mr. Collins, with love not even being close to a contributing factor.

Pictured: Elizabeth, Mr. Collins and Charlotte

Like sharks drawn to blood, there are also those who wait to leech from the benefits of matrimony. Oscar Wilde’s Lady Bracknell is one such character. As Algernon’s domineering and social-climbing aunt, she is at first disinterested in the idea of union between her nephew and Jack’s ward, Cecily.

When broached with questions concerning Cecily’s fortune, Jack casually replies, “Oh, about a hundred and thirty thousand pounds in funds. That is all”. Although understated, this instantly piques the interest of Lady Bracknell who suddenly claims, “Miss Cardew [Cecily] seems to me a most attractive young lady, now that I look at her.”

Anyone possessing even a shred of common sense could tell you that Lady Bracknell’s newfound affection for Cecily was spurred by her interest in the fortune.  Ironically, despite the plethora of social mannerisms, being a ‘gold digger’ was considered okay.

Pictured: Algernon, Lady Bracknell and Cecily

Not to fear though, for Lady Bracknell is hardly alone. To the women of the Regency era, it seemed that the word ‘marriage’ had only a nice ring to it. A vulgar and foolish character, Mrs. Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice possesses only one ambition: to marry her daughters off to wealthy gentlemen.

The marriage of her eldest daughter proved to Mrs. Bennet “a promising thing for her younger daughters, as Jane’s marrying so greatly must throw them in the way of other rich men”. The very example of a burlesque and exaggeration of a social misfit, Mrs. Bennet is Austen’s comical yet controversial criticism of a society that trivializes the true meaning of matrimony.
Laugh as you may, at the outrageous and absurd puppets that depict our own weaknesses and inanity, for in the end it is ultimately the best medicine. We ourselves, have seen the wrongful exploitation of marriage, a match made not out of love but more similar to that of a business deal.

Having chortled at the clever interplay of characters in such satirical texts, it is hardly surprising that we might also feel a little embarrassed. For think about it, if we laughed, we must’ve been able to relate. With the ability to gently poke fun at the flaws whilst encouraging positive change, satire is ridicule with a twist that will always prove invaluable to progressive development.

A control freak cannot help advising others and pointing out others' mistakes. He or she will try to mend other people and try to make them perfect. Or at least, what they think is perfect. They continually try to impose their own thinking and behavior on others, and try to align them to their own value system.

Controlling symtoms include:

  • Telling a person what to do; and how to do it – instead of allowing them to do it their own way
  • Insisting you know what is right for someone else
  • Insisting your way is the right way (my way or the highway)
Control freaks control people by manipulating them.

Apparently those who lack self eestem and self confidence have these characteristics:
-a reluctance to try new things
-adopting a "victim" mentally of blaming others for your performance
-losing your assertiveness and presence
-feeling that your best isn't good enough
-being obsessed with unimportant irrelevant things
-becoming temperamental and thinking inconsistently
-losing your "shine" as a person and student
-not enjoying the challenge of striving to continually make your best better
-preferring to be alone more than usual

o_o

and then that apparently affects your ability to study properly. Damn. So I'm apparently lacking in self confidence <_< Well I do find myself being pessimistic all the time, it's actually really hard to be optimistic all the time ._." But nobody likes negative sad people who complain all the time so yeah. Okay the main point is, I need to get started, I really do. I shouldn't even be telling you guys since apparently telling people about your goals lowers your chance of achieving them because you already feel a sense of achievement when you tell people about it? o_o everyone is probably studying hard for UMAT. So. Hard. To. Change. Oh and another tip is to

-STOP WISHING AND START DOING.

Hmmm okay. I WILL start today. I will. Today I aim to:

- Do a practice exam for UMAT
-start my chemistry EEI background info
-catch up on physics

AND if I finish those,
-pick a poem for english
-Study math C

Okay goodbye guys :)!
