Pages of a novel

Hey guys! I'm here to catch up on the last few days of February I have yet not blogged about. Uni has already started but why not reminisce the bygone summer days. A few weeks ago my uncle and his family arrived in Brisbane for the first time; I have no idea how my mum persuaded them it'd be worthwhile but yeah.
My brother and I were in charge of taking them around to the theme parks in the first two days because my parents couldn't get time off work; it was also one of the rare rare rare times we got to stay in a hotel (no doubt that was bribery on my parents part in order to get us to cooperate).
I think unless I planned ahead, I'd make such a bad tour guide in my own country- we cabbed it most of the time because it was too inconvenient having like 6 people take the bus to the theme parks especially because my uncle didn't have go cards. The joys of travelling in Queensland.
So awkward though, our cab driver gave us his card after he dropped us off and told us we could call him to pick us up when we were going to another theme park the next day. I just nodded but we ended up calling the cab company instead and to my embarrassment, the same cab driver rocked up to pick us up...
I searched up a random Thai place a few metres from our hotel and it was actually very nice. It was at this place called Thai eatery.
My thai beef salad after a whole day of indulging on very unhealthy and overpriced food at the theme parks.

I think I got a tad overexcited at the prospect of having a hotel room all to myself (except for my brother) HAHA.
Of course, what better way to be classy than to drink milk tea out of a wine glass yeah? I showed my brother a few of the exercises I've been doing and after a few minutes of trying it out, he was gasping under his breath cursing about how hard it was HAHA.
A day later I met up with elaine for brunch since uni was starting the week after for me. She took me a place in Salisbury called Apples on Ainsworth. It had sort of a vintage feel to it and you could customise your own juice!
I got a nice dish I couldn't remember the name of but basically it had mushrooms, egg sunny side up, pesto, helium cheese, spinach and avocado!
Originally I thought we weren't going to celebrate chinese new years eve but mum called halfway and told me to go home to prepare some vegetables for cooking.
We also made like more than 200 dumplings... it's the first time my family has been so asian in ages! The perks of having uncles and aunties over :P
Food galore!
A few days after uni started I finally met up with Jenwen and Alan for some brunch at Shouk Cafe. I've been a few times already and not once has it disappointed.

On friday tam invited pk and I over to her house to have some Pho, she also proceeded to paint my nails for me since mine looked terrible prior.
She then drove us and a couple of her friends to Tet viet festival, it was my first time and I spent the majority of the time eating to my hearts content.
They were selling a lot of meatballs, sugar cane juice and the like - it was sort of like a fair really since there were rides.
To relive childhood, we went on bumper cars before watching other people play some of the street stall games. I was actually pretty tempted to join in but couldn't justify spending $5 trying to succeed in a game I would probably fail miserably at :P

Big thank you to Tam for taking us :3

Heyy guys!! I'm a bit too tired at the moment to bother writing up a blog post with photos and everything but just suddenly felt the urge to write down some thoughts. Once in a while I guess, I feel like my posts always become too repetitive - as if I'm just captioning my pictures which I don't want. Is it strange that sometimes I wanna just use my blog to capture little moments in my life? So that my future self can read it and cringe over how I used to type?

I have no idea what I'm typing actually... I'm really hungry actually hahahahaha omg, but it is midnight sooooo yeah.

I've still been exercising recently which is good, I think it's been one of the best decisions I've made this year. I did it even when I thought I couldn't and I feel like it's helped me with some of my insecurity or mood swing issues. I sometimes wonder if it's normal to experience such a huge change in emotions ; it troubles me a little. I think exercising always puts me in a positive happy mood afterwards though ^^ for which I'm glad.

My goal this year is to improve my mindset with which I view life >:D and try harder in everything I do but not compare myself to anyone else. Sometimes this willpower crumbles when I'm feeling particularly down. I start doubting my progress, myself as a person or thinking of things in the past that shouldn't bother me anymore. To be honest a few days ago encountering something made me falter for a little bit , though it shouldn't have.

I'm glad though, that I have what I have :3 and things have a way of putting me back on track eventually. Okay i'm literally writing all this nonsense, feels a little bit weird. I think it's time I went to bed since I have work tomorrow morning~!!

Good night!

Hello guys! I'm really getting slacking with my blogging aren't I? I remember I used to blog almost every day when I was in high school - granted that most of it was complaints about school and the workload but anyhow. This post comes a few days late, but over a week ago was valentines day :3

A few days prior, a friend came over and we trialled making some chocolate because I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to tempering. I actually had no idea what I was doing because in the past whenever I tried it always failed but I think I've identified one thing that always made it fail previously: using bad quality chocolate chips(which I found out don't have cocoa butter in them which makes them compound chocolate rather than real chocolate).
Being cliche and making roses, chocolates and a card woop whoop.
I struggled with make up for about an hour before vincent came to pick me up hahahahahaha but thats okay. We went to kill some time in the park where Vincent then devoured the chocolates. I actually don't know what they tasted like :P
We kind of just mucked around a little bit and I watched Vincent practice parallel parking :P Then we headed off to new farm cinemas for the first time to watch a movie. If you guys haven't been I really recommend it :3 It's quite different from other cinemas and there are beanbags inside for you to sit on if you decide you don't want to sit on the seats.
We finished watching The kingsmen, chilled in new farm park before Vincent took me to a restaurant in Hamilton. Had no idea where we were going until like 5 minutes before we arrived because Vincent wouldn't let me help him look at the GPS since it was meant to be a "mystery" hehe. We ended up at Hosokawa Japanese restaurant!
They were so busy but the staff were still really nice :3 It was my first time there and I must say, I think japanese food will always be one of my favourite cuisines. We ordered quite a few plates of food but I only bothered to take photos of a few.
Salmon sashimi and Chicken Karaage!
We also ordered Pork belly as an entree of sorts as well as this dish called Avocado kakuni! Tasted sooo good ; I must learn to make it one day.

We went for round two a little while later by going for drinks at a cafe called La Dolce Vita in milton I believe!! I never knew all these places were in brisbane but hey ; you can pretty much say I visited japan and france all in one day yeah?

I think La dolce vita is both a cafe and restaurant but not sure ; we sorta just strolled casually in and took a seat before ordering.
Really liked both the interior and exterior of the store ; twas really pretty and quite different from all the places I've been to. Of course, we stopped outside and took photos like tourists.

And that pretty much concludes what we did that day :3 Twas really fun and enjoyable though I ended up with a giant food baby but thats okay!!

Hey guys! I'm currently sitting in a hotel room after a long day of taking my cousins out to theme parks so I thought I'd do a bit of a mini update. Uh well evidently, my life is consisting of brunch at the moment hahaha. First with home made:

Rye toast with vintage cheese, spinach, tomato, chicken and one poached egg.

Other than that I've also been hitting up a few new places I haven't been to before: Hatch & Co. I went there with Julie after some shopping since we wanted to try it out. It was a bit more on the pricey side to be honest so I would probably only come here for special occasions. Nevertheless, it wasn't too crowded when we went and the food was nice.

We shared duck pasta along with a Pizza of the day which totalled to like roughly 40+ dollars. We went all the way to the city just to have some drinks afterwards at Bonsai Botanika.
It was originally a shopping expedition but we didn't buy anything ): instead we uh started shamelessly taking selfies.

Us imitating typical asian poses which were uh surprisingly more flattering than we thought. HAHAHAHAHA but no.

Few days later I had brunch with Vincent at Pawpaw cafe for the first time!
I got an omelette with helium cheese, asparagus & cherry tomatoes with bacon as a side :3 Vincent got Thai style eggs with rice which was pretty tasty ^^
Went with Tam and Pk to Grill'd and we opted for salad this time instead of burgers. The salad was actually surprisingly tasty and refreshing ^^ It was chicken and pomegranate.

Had a gathering with high school friends at home and we ordered 6 pizzas.... for six people. I've been eating a bit unhealthy lately but hopefully back on track soon ^^ Goodnight to you all!

Hello readers! I'm in the midst of a very severe food coma at the moment after enjoying too many slices of pizza with some high school friends so I thought since I'm not motivated enough to budge from my position, I'll do some blogging!

The other day I had a brunch date with Tam at Campos Coffee located in the Fortitude valley. It was our first time there but we got there relatively easy - just take the 199 and it was within a short walking distance. I actually found the interior quite interesting and we had to head down an alleyway to find the entrance.
There weren't too many people there yet so it felt really peaceful and secluded in a good way. The waitress was really nice and offered to take a few photos for Tam and I, right before I dropped my knife onto the floor. Very class of me indeed.
I ordered an iced latte + a dish with poached eggs, chorizo and beans whilst Tam got a pancetta and fig pizza I believe.
I'm not a professional coffee drinker, in fact I sort of have a internal struggle between ordering it because I like it or because it makes me feel classy (and because I need it that day for caffeine) LOL. Much like Vincent, I prefer mocha instead but anyhow.
Tam found the coffee to her liking and the pizza was surprisingly tasty despite the unusual mix of toppings. Hahaha we actually stopped for proper photos that day despite being crazily hungry. Note that this wasn't the only meal of the day.
We were so full afterwards but decided to walk around fortitude valley casually and on the way we popped into a random thrift store. It was my first time thrift store shopping actually and a lot of the items were in a lot better condition that I expected.
Ended up with a few purchases : two dress which came to a total of $36 which is really good considering they were previously from Topshop and Bardot respectively. After browsing, we eventually somehow found our way to Kings of kings - a chinese restaurant where Tam introduced me to mango pancakes, a dessert which she was horrified to find I hadn't tasted before.
So. Much. Cream. Omg food baby. We shopped around in the city after that doing really random things but eventually got really thirsty so..............
Watermelon Bingo for the first time!! It was actually godly - considering we were so parched from all the food before. We were so fascinated with the fact that thing bingo was legitimately made out of half a watermelon! Had fun taking a few photos but a few minutes in ...

We realised the struggle to finish it all would be very very real; I think we did a very good job though, considering it was just the two of us. Oh well, it was 3/4 fruit anyway, so relatively healthy HAHAHAHAHA.

Anyhow, more posts to come later :3 gonna head off for some down time since I have work tomorrow. Good night to you all!
